Tatcha's The Rice Polish Gentle Foaming Enzyme Powder

Packaging: Luxurious. The rice polish comes in a very neatly packaged jar that excludes a very luxurious vibe.  However, I’ve only tried the sample and not purchased the full size myself, so I’m not sure how practical this packaging would be.

Scent: Theres definitely no artificial scent in this cleanser. The cleanser has a natural rice scent to it, which was isn’t all that uncomfortable.

Tatcha's The Rice Polish Gentle Foaming Enzyme Powder

Formula: Unfortunately it seems that my skin does not like this cleanser. The cleanser gave me a subtle but still nasty allergic reaction. My skin became very bumpy, red and also quite inflamed. My pores were also left enlarged and in general my subsequent makeup days were disastrous.

Price: Expensive! For $95 AUD this rice polish better contain gold.

Overall, I’m glad I’ve tried the sample before taking the plunge and purchasing the full size product. Unfortunately this product is no good for my skin and quite frankly I do believe it is quite over price for what is really a physical rice facial wash.

I hope you enjoyed it!

Until next time,

Stay curious!

The worse mascara EVER! YSL’s Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking

Ysl (Yves Saint Laurent) very rarely puts a foot out of place but something seriously went wrong with this mascara!

The Ysl’s Mascara Voulme Effet Cils Shocking Gratuit Free Black  (mini) was something that I got with my Ysl’s Devoted To USL Palette Parisienne when I was at Singapore airport. I saved the testing of the mascara for later as I had a few opened already but eventually I gave in and opened up this mascara with high hopes.

YSL_Palette_review

Unfortunately this did not live up to the Ysl name at all! Let’s get the rambling started!

Claims: “Exaggerate your lashes with shocking volume from every angle. The amplified helix brush with a twisted cut, provides instant excess volume on the lashes, with effortless application. “

Packaging: Stylish, chic and classy. This is what YSL managed to get right.

Price: Expensive.  A full size of this  Voulme Effet Cils Shocking Gratuit Free Black Mascara would cost you $57 AUD.

Holds a curl: Nope. Well not for my ‘asian-lashes’ anyways. The minute I applied this mascara,  my lashes drooped down further than I have ever seen it. This formula was way too heavy for my thin wispy lashes.

YSL's Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking

Water-proof: No. This is not a water proof formula which explains why it was too heavy on my lashes. For thin wispy lashes like mine, water-proof formulas would be the best to go.

Scent: It STINKS! Literally, the smell is just terrible. I don’t really know how to describe it, but my best attempt would be something like a permanent marker. This is the biggest con for me, a total put off.

Repurchase: NO WAY. Theres no way I’ll ever fork any money out for this mascara. In fact, this is going into the rubbish bin pronto.

Overall, I actually hate this product also as much as I dislike the Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara. Clearly non-water proof mascaras are not my thing and both of these mascaras happen to be just that. If you have stronger lashes than mine and have had no problem with non-water proof mascaras in the past then this mascara may just work  for you (but I’m not too sure about the smell). I, however will never purchase this again. There is simply nothing that angers me more than a mascara undoing my hard earn’t curls.

Until next time!

Review: Zoeva’s Nude Spectrum Blush Palette

I’ve never been a blush girl until I’ve purchased this Zoeva Nude Spectrum Blush Palette.

Blush has never been a staple in my makeup routine as I simply didn’t see the need for it before. However, theses days I’ve been reaching for my blush palette more and more often! I’ve discovered that when applied in the right places and with just the right amount, blush can freshen up your appearance drastically.

The Zoeva Nude Spectrum Blush Palette is perfect for that understated blush look, alternatively the shades make great eyeshadows too!

Let’s dive into the review! 🙂

Rainy wonderland Haul

Packaging: Cute but cheap feeling. The packaging looks chic and cute at a glance but it feels rather cheap and flimsy. The material itself feels a tad like paper and can easily be stained with traces of makeup left from your fingers!

Zoeva Nude Spectrum

Formula: Powdery. The formula itself has a lot of fall out but blends in nicely when buffed into the skin. It’s also super buildable so you can easily do a natural or full glam look with this palette.

Zoeva's Nude Spectrum Blush Palette

Shades: Nice. This palette comes with two pink shades and two brown contour shades, one of each being a slight shimmery shade and the other a matte shade.

Zoeva's Nude Spectrum Blush Palette

Price: Reasonable. This costs me around $30 SG (it was on sale at the time) and to me this is quite a reasonable shade for four shades.

Overall, I find that I’ve been reaching this palette quite often to get my desired natural no makeup look. This palette is not only great for us as a blush but also as a contour and eyeshadow too!

Review of Too Faced’s Boudoir Eyes Soft and Sexy Eyeshadow Collection

It’s hard for anyone to pass the odd makeup sale, but a half price sale? There’s no way I was going to pass on this one!

This Too Faced’s Boudoir Eyes eyeshadow palette was some of the items I hauled on this sale. Rambling aside, let’s jump into the review!

Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft and Sexy Eye Shadow Collection

Claims:

Our sultry Boudoir Eyes collection offers nine matte and shimmer shadows in soft and sexy shades to wear to the bedroom and beyond.

REVIEW

The palette is a mixture of shimmery and matte shades. Shades like ‘In The Buff’and ‘Satin Sheets’ are great as blush or highlighters!

Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft and Sexy Eye Shadow Collection

SWATCHES

The quality of these formulas varies from soft and smooth to patchy and chunky 😦 . There’s also a massive amount of fall out with this palette.

Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft and Sexy Eye Shadow Collection

Favorite shades: In the Buff, Satin Sheets and Lap dance are my favourite shades. The formula for these shadows are velvety smooth and the shades are subtly shimmering and soft.

Least favourite shades: French Tickler and Voulez-Vous. These are two very patchy shades. French Tickler is a unique black shade with large chunky gold glitter. The glitter makes the overall shade a tad messy and hard to work with.

OVERALL

Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft and Sexy Eye Shadow Collection

Price: $52.00 AUD – this is a normal price for a Too Face eyeshadow palette. However I manage to get my for half price at a Mecca sale!

Overall, this is a nice palette for daily wear. The quality of the shadows however varies greatly rom shade to shade. It’s not worth the $52 but well worth the $26 that I got it for. 🙂

Until next time,

YVES SAINT LAURENT Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain

First Impressions: YVES SAINT LAURENT Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain

YVES SAINT LAURENT Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain

I’ve been on the hunt for a nude lipstick that won’t leave me looking all wash out for quite a while now. Unfortunately not all of my attempts have been successful but something tells me that splurging on this $57 lip stain from YSL would be a good idea…

I love all of the shades in this range and the applicator looks so unique! However,as I do not have the money to purchase all of the shades in this collection, I had to settle for one and I think Shade 23 may just be my answer for a nude lippie …

Claims |

ysl-tatouage-jan18-1.jpg

Create bold, long-lasting colour with ease with this revolutionary ultra-matte lip stain. The lightweight formula allows for all day wear with a no budge naked-lip feel.

  • Ink-like liquid matte formula gives your lips 8 hours of wear leaving them looking gorgeous all day without having to reapply
  • Formula glides onto your lips, drying quickly for a transfer-free finish
  • Spatula-like applicator gives the precision of a liner with the control of a brush for perfectly defined lips with every application
  • With a wide range of shade options, indulge your lips in perfect nudes, polished pinks, and to-die-for plums

Review |

YVES SAINT LAURENT Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain

Packaging: Luxurious. In typical YSL fashion, this lipstains hits all the marks in the parking depatment! The packaging is simple yet also chic and sophisticated. I absolutely love it!

Formula: The forumla is smooth and applies onto your lips like butter. It dries relatively quickly so make sure you work fast! One con is that it becomes a little drying once it’s dried down. 😦  It’s certainly a matte lip stain.

Shades: I got mine. in shade 23 – Singular Taupe (deep nude). However there are plenty of shades to chose from, colours ranging from cute baby pink to edgier dark shades. There’s bound to be one for everyone! Shade 23 is a nice MLBB shade for me, the colour is super wearable.

Scent: The Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain has a nice luxurious scent to it, maybe a rose scent. As nice as it smells I find it annoying on my lips.

YVES SAINT LAURENT Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain Shade 23

Longevity: 3 hours. Despite it claiming to sit on your pout for about 8 hours, I find that it  gives me a good 3 hours of pigmentation. After which the colour starts to fade but not in a patchy way, it just subtly reduces in pigmentation.

Price: Expensive. Coming from YSL you’d expect the price tag to somewhere in the high-end region. One of these babies will cost you $57 AUD. Which is a lot of many for a lip product – but hey, it’s Ysl! 😉

Repurchase? Unlikely. As much as I love the shade and how it applies however I find that it’s just a tad too expensive for a lip stain that dries out my lips. I’ve got other lipstains/tints that not only delivers the pigmentation I desire but also leave my lips feeling hydrated and moisturised.  Overall a cute product for the vanity tablet but it’s not something they you should rush out to get your hands on.

I hope you enjoyed it!

Until next time,

Stay curious!

The Ordinary’s High-Adherence Silicone Primer VS The High-Spreadability Fluid Primer.

The Ordinary's High-Adherence Silicone Primer VS The High-Spreadability Fluid Primer.

The Ordinary Brand has some great products but none have attracted my attention as much as the primers have.

The Ordinary’s High-Adherence Silicone Primer and  The High-Spreadability Fluid Primer have been raved by makeup gurus like Wayne Goss! So naturally they were something I had to try for myself!

Let the battle begin!

The Ordinary’s High-Adherence Silicone Primer  |

The Ordinary's High-Adherence Silicone Primer

Rating: 4.5 / 5

Packaging: Simple. It comes in a no-fuss  tubular packaging which is both practical and hygienic.

Texture: Smooth. The primer is thick and smooth, it melts perfectly into your skin once spread out.

Performance: Great. This primer hides all of my massive pores! It leaves my skin looking powerless, smooth and keeps my makeup on all day!

Formula: Moisturising. I was pretty surprised when I found how super moisturising this primer was! It was like I had applied moisturiser rather than primer.

Price: Affordable. This primer retails of $8.80 AUD, just $8.80!!

Suitable for: People with oily skin and/or large pores. This formula keeps your skin matte and fills out all of your pores. A little goes a long way!

The Ordinary’s  High-Spreadability Fluid Primer |

The Ordinary's High-Spreadability Fluid Primer

Rating: 4/5

Packaging: Practical. This primer comes in a bottle with a pump, making it  super easy to use. It’s a little more liquidy than the High-Adherence Silicon Primer.

Texture: Smooth. The texture of this primer is so so smooth! Once spread out it leaves the skin feeling baby soft. The texture reminds me of the Maybelline’s Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer.

Performance: Good. Like the High-Adherence Silicon Primer this keeps your makeup on all day and smooths your skin over. This primer also fills in fine lines and dry patches leaving a overall even complexion.

Formula: Oily.  The formula feels a little oiler than the High Adherence Primer however it’s not all uncomfortable.

Price: Affordable. For $13.90 AUD this is a super affordable primer!

Suitable for: Mature skin and/or dry skin.

Overall, I love both primers but I’m reaching for my  High-Adherence Silicone Primer more often than the High-Spreadability Fluid Primer. This is mostly as I have oily skin and large pores and so the Silicon Primer just works better for my skin.

Be sure to try them out!

Until next time,

Review: Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear SPF 15

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra WearThe beauty industry is booming as makeup addicts like myself are real suckers for new releases. I couldn’t pass on this Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear when I was makeup shopping the other day. It was such a popular and much raved about foundation of 2018 that I had to put it to the test myself.

Now guys I hope you appreciate my sacrifice as I have three bottles of other foundation at home waiting to be finished and this purchase is truly for the sake of this review! 😉

Lets dive in!

Claims |

3614271430281_Teint_Idole_Ultra_Wear_03_Beige_Diaphane.jpg

Unlock the secret to a perfectly flawless, ultra long-wearing canvas and forgo the need for touch-ups with this oil free, 24 hour wear liquid foundation.

Developed with the notion of lasting perfection in mind, this hard-working formulation took 8 years of meticulous research to achieve the perfect final product. Formulated with Eternal Soft technology, this oil-free foundation resists all external factors to keep complexion looking fresh and shine-free for up to 24 hours without the need to touch-up. Delivers a blendable, natural-looking full coverage with a velvet matte finish for an ultra flawless effect.

Review|

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear

Formula: The formula looks thick initially but thins out significantly once you start to spread it out with your fingers or a makeup brush. Additionally it doesn’t feel heavy or thick on the skin at all, making it a comfortable all day foundation (not that you’ll wear it all day).

It can settle in fine lines and on dry skin so much sure you layer it and skin preparation is absolutely vital!

Shades: There is such a wide range of shade with this foundation you’ll surely find one that suits your skin tone! 🙂

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear

Coverage: Medium. This foundation isn’t exactly full coverage but it covers just enough to even out your skin tone giving you  a naturally radiant and healthy look.

Scent: HEAVENLY. I absolutely love the scent! It smells so luxurious but chic and sophisticated at the same time. The scent reminds my of the Prada and Chanel perfume my mother loves. My morning foundation routine is not also a mini aromatherapy session!

Oxidisation: Terrible. Unfortunately this foundation oxidises a lot. My 005- Beige Ivoire shade oxidises in minutes to a deeper orange tone shade. Fortunately for me however, this isn’t too bad of a shade and I can get away with it.

Longevity:  8+ hours.  I’ve only tested this foundation for a full 8 hours but so far so good. The foundation settles nicely on my oily skin and also absorbs some of my facial oils leaving me with a healthy radiant glow.

Price: $60 AUD. This is your standard price for a Lancome foundation.

Is it worth the hype? Mac Cosmetics Prep + Prime Fix +

Mac's Prep and Prime

Packaging: Practical. The mist comes in a spray bottle that is both practical and easy to use.

Performance: Great! I’ve tried fixing sprays in the past (including NYX’s) and I’ve always hated them as they left my skin feeling so tight and uncomfortable – possibly because of the high alcohol content? This MAC’s prep and prime leaves my face feeling refreshed and moisturised. Furthermore it freshens up my look, making it look less powdery and more alive!

Ingredients:

The ingredient’s list looks friendly enough, no alcohol is always a good sign for my skin! Also, Fragrance is also pretty low in the list too.

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Caffeine, Panthenol, Arginine, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PPG-26-Buteth-26, Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol.

Price: Expensive. For about $37 AUD per bottle it’s a rather hefty price for a bottle of liquid. I’ve had mine for about three months and am about 3/4 done. However, it’s something that I’ll definitely repurchase when I run out as it’s simply amazing!

Overall, YES it is WORTH THE HYPE! It is honestly a makeup item that I cannot go without these days! Go and try it for yourself and trust me you won’t regret it!

Until next time,

Skincare & Makeup for that Dewy Winter Skin

image1-30.PNG

The ‘Dewy Skin‘ look is always in for me, sun or shine. However, when it comes to the dry winter season having fresh, radiant and dewy skin is a must.

It’s currently winter here in Australia and it’s absolutely freezing outside! As we shiver though this cold winter chill, I’ve been rather impress with how my skin has been holding up. I’ve been regularly using some of my favourite items this winter season, some new and some old.

I’ve done a similar post on this last year which you can check out ( here ) . However there’s some new kids on the block this year! After some experimentation, I’ve managed to narrow it down to five key products!

So without further ado, let’s dive in!

DRUNK ELEPHANT’S C-FIRMA DAY SERUM |

Drunk Elephant's C-Firma Serum

The  Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum is about the only serum  that leaves me waking up with radiant hydrated skin!

Use it once in the morning, preferably after cleansing for radiant and clear skin. This serum not only hydrates but also protects your skin with any damaging UV rays ( that occurs in winter too).

DRUNK ELEPHANT’S T.L.C FRAMBOOS GLYCOLIC NIGHT SERUM |

Drunk Elephant's T.L.C Framboos Glycol Night Serum

I love the Drunk Elephant’s T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum because it leaves my skin all soft and smooth in the mornings. This is a serum that I use nightly to help rid my skin of the dull and flaky surface layer.

Your foundation will apply like a breeze with this serum! No more dry patches!

TOO FACED’S BORN THIS WAY FOUNDATION |

Too Faced Born This Way

My Too Faced’s Born This Way Foundation never fails to give me that fresh glow look I desire!

HOURGLASS’S AMBIENT  LIGHTING POWDER |

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder

Using the Hourglass’s Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light as a finishing powder would probably be the easiest way for you to attend that dewy glass-like skin.  Be sure to use only enough and buff anyway any excess to ensure that your face won’t be left cakey.

MAC’S PREP AND PRIME |

Mac's Prep and Prime

A spritz of this is all you need to bring your face back to life. It also sets your makeup in place all day so you can enjoy your day in peace!

Full review coming soon!

All of these products have been an absolute life save for me this winter, I highly recommend them all!

Thank you for visiting and until next time,

RMS Beauty’s Un-cover Up Concealer Review

I was determined to make 2018 the year of ‘clean-beauty’ for me. We use plenty of skincare and makeup products in our daily lives and a lot of these products could contain chemicals that are not only bad for our skin but also body.

So far I’ve trial a few Drunk Elephant products, and boy have they blown my mind! However, I’m not doing so well in the makeup department. There are very few makeup brands out there they use natural or organic products, that’s why I was super happy to discover RMS beauty – a brand that focuses on all natural all organic beauty.

Since it was concealer shopping time for me (my Maybelline Fit Me concealer was no longer sufficient for my super dark undereyes) I opted for this RMS “Un” Cover Up concealer  instead of purchasing cult favourites like Tarte or Nars concealers.

This RMS “Un” Cover Up is my first ever organic makeup! So rambling aside, let’s dive into the review!

RMS Beauty "Un" Cover Up Concealer

Claims:

Camouflage skin imperfections and brighten under-eye circles with this nourishing, lightweight concealer.

Specifically formulated to enhance the natural look of skin, these silky concealers deliver hydrating coverage and a radiant finish. Lightweight and creamy in texture, the creamy formula auto-adjusts to match your skin tone and blends seamlessly into the skin to cover imperfections. The result is a naturally flawless looking complexion.

RMS Beauty "Un" Cover Up Concealer

Packaging: Cheap-looking. I was quite disappointed by the packaging. I loved how it was simple in design however I hated the “tin-type” lid that made the overall product feel cheap and  flimsy.

RMS Beauty "Un" Cover Up Concealer

Shades: I got mine in Shade 11. Shade 11 is a  pale shade with a subtle yellow base, perfect for my yellowy toned skin!

Coverage: Once applied it provides a light to medium coverage. – as you can see, it doesn’t completely hide the mole on my hand but blurs it’s appearance slightly.  It can also emphasise fine lines so primers and blending is a must!

RMS Beauty "Un" Cover Up Concealer

Formula: It feels buttery and creamy. Best to use your fingers for this concealer as it melts with the heat of your skin.  I still get some creasing under the eyes but a little setting powder seems to fix it. Also when I first opened it there were little precipitate of oil on the surface (as pictured above). Don’t worry, these just blends into the concealer once you start warming it up with your fingers.

Price: Expensive. For $52 AUD you’ll get 2g of product, which isn’t a lot. You’re basically paying for the brand and also the fact that these makeup products are free from any nasties.

Repurchase? Maybe. I love the formula and the philosophy behind the brand, however the price point is way too high for the amount of product that is given.

Overall, I love that this makeup is actually good for you and I love how it gives you a natural radiate finish, perfect for the natural no makeup look that I love! I’ll suggest it if you want to try an all-natural makeup or if you’re planing on splurging.

Thank you for reading!

Until next time,
