Skincare & Makeup for that Dewy Winter Skin

The ‘Dewy Skin‘ look is always in for me, sun or shine. However, when it comes to the dry winter season having fresh, radiant and dewy skin is a must.

It’s currently winter here in Australia and it’s absolutely freezing outside! As we shiver though this cold winter chill, I’ve been rather impress with how my skin has been holding up. I’ve been regularly using some of my favourite items this winter season, some new and some old.

I’ve done a similar post on this last year which you can check out ( here ) . However there’s some new kids on the block this year! After some experimentation, I’ve managed to narrow it down to five key products!

So without further ado, let’s dive in!

Drunk Elephant's C-Firma Serum

The  Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum is about the only serum  that leaves me waking up with radiant hydrated skin!

Use it once in the morning, preferably after cleansing for radiant and clear skin. This serum not only hydrates but also protects your skin with any damaging UV rays ( that occurs in winter too).

Drunk Elephant's T.L.C Framboos Glycol Night Serum

I love the Drunk Elephant’s T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum because it leaves my skin all soft and smooth in the mornings. This is a serum that I use nightly to help rid my skin of the dull and flaky surface layer.

Your foundation will apply like a breeze with this serum! No more dry patches!

Too Faced Born This Way

My Too Faced’s Born This Way Foundation never fails to give me that fresh glow look I desire!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder

Using the Hourglass’s Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light as a finishing powder would probably be the easiest way for you to attend that dewy glass-like skin.  Be sure to use only enough and buff anyway any excess to ensure that your face won’t be left cakey.

Mac's Prep and Prime

A spritz of this is all you need to bring your face back to life. It also sets your makeup in place all day so you can enjoy your day in peace!

Full review coming soon!

All of these products have been an absolute life save for me this winter, I highly recommend them all!

Thank you for visiting and until next time,

Hada Labo Hydrating Face Wash

Hada Labo Hydrating Face Wash: Review

Often the most simplest of things can be the hardest. For year’s I’ve been trying to find a cleanser that can cleanse my face effectively and not leave my skin all tight and uncomfortable. My mission during my recent trip to Asia was to find a (potentially) perfect cleanser for my skin, and I think I may have found the one…

Dying to know? .. Let’s dive in!

Hada Labo Hydrating Face Wash

With two types of Hyaluronic Acid to deeply hydrate skin for significantly soft, smooth and supple skin after every wash.

Ultra fine foam that gently washes away impurities, dirt and oil without drying or irritating the skin.

  • Hydrates as it cleanses while preserving skin’s natural moisture.
  • Skin pH balanced
  • Low irritation
  • Free of fragrance, colorant and alcohol.

Hada Labo Hydrating Face Wash

Packaging: Simple and practical. The cleanser comes in the typical tube, the design is simple and practical making it super easy to use. This is especially great on nights where you just need to wash off the makeup and hit the bed.

Scent: None. I’m happy to announce that there is absolutely no (irritating) scent to this product, making it perfect for my super sensitive skin.

Performance: Excellent! I’ve tried numerous cleansers and about 90% of these have caused my skin to either break out or leave it dry and irritated. The cleanser lathers up into a soft and velvety foam, making it feel luxuriously delicate on the skin. After cleansing it leaves my skin felling balanced and hydrated.

Price: Affordable. I got mine at Watsons in Singapore for ~$13 SG ( $13 AUD).  For a cleanser (100g) that is pH balanced and free of fragrance, colourant and alcohol – this is an amazing deal! I’m kicking myself for not stocking up! 😦

Repurchase? Y-E-S! There’s no way I’m not stocking up on this good stuff the next time I’m in Singapore (or anywhere that stocks this!).

Overall, I love this cleanser! I’ve been trying to find a perfectly simple and effective cleanser for the longest time but have been left disappointed repeatedly. At Watsons, I’ve considered purchasing the much raved about Cosrx’s gel cleanser but I found this little guy instead and am so glad I did! This cleanser does everything a good cleanser should do and at a very affordable price too (plus doesn’t contain all the unnecessary nasties). All in all, I love this cleanser and would strongly recommend you guys give it a try!!

Have fun making your skin beautiful!

Until next time,

Drunk Elephant’s T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum Review

Drunk Elephant's T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum Review

This year my New Year’s resolution won’t be my typical eat healthy and drink more water mantra, this year I’m detoxing my skincare routine!

Like all other beauty addicts out there I love skincare and a lot of the times I’ve purchase products based on reviews and what they claim to  do instead of dwelling too much on the ingredients list. Following the Korean 10-Step routine, I put a lot of products on my face day and night and as you know a lot of these chemicals can get absorb into our skin and potentially accumulate in our bodies (for better or worse). Now, it’s unlikely that I’ll throw all of my paraben containing products skincare products in the bin (since I get a bit attached) but regardless I’ll try my best! Besides throwing out skincare products, it’s time I start investing a little more in brand that are designed without those worrying nasties!

So drumroll for .. DRUNK ELEPHANT!

Drunk Elephant is a skincare brand that focuses on producing effective  skincare items without all the added nasties that can be dangerous to the environment and to our skin.

I’ve reviewed Drunk Elephant’s uber popular  C-Firma Day Serum here and their Shaba Complex  Eye Serum here … today’s review is on another popular DE product – the T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum Review!

A 12% AHA/BHA night serum that helps refine and resurface skin to reveal a smoother and more radiant looking complexion. T.L.C. Framboos™ enhances the performance of other products by clearing the way for maximum absorption.

This high-tech gel resurfaces dull skin, gently lifting dead skin cells away by dissolving the glue that holds them to the surface. The results are greater clarity and a smoother, more even looking complexion. Formulated with our dream team AHA/BHA blend including Glycolic, Lactic, Tartaric, Citric and Salicylic acids and blended with raspberry extract, T.L.C. Framboos™ sinks in easily and delivers effective and precise chemical exfoliation without the harsh side effects like dryness or sensitization. Horse chestnut and white tea help to soothe. Fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration along with excess oiliness and pores will appear dramatically diminished. Go from a drab complexion to an absolutely luminous one, practically overnight!

AHAs can be sensitizing if not formulated properly. We added soothing plant extracts and formulated T.L.C. Framboos™ at the ideal pH level of 3.8-4.0, which we believe is the key to an effective formulation.

98% found skin was smoother

96% found skin was softer

93% found skin felt retexturized and refined

93% found skin had a healthy, radiant glow

91% found skin looked more even-toned, brighter and luminous

*in an independent consumer testing panel of 50 women ages 25 to 55

‘The results are greater clarity and a smoother, more even looking complexion.’

Yes – but I’m not entirely sure if it’s the Framboos Serum that’s doing this or if its just the fact that my skincare routine is just working pretty well this season.

‘Fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration along with excess oiliness and pores will appear dramatically diminished.’

Not really – I don’t have wrinkles yet however fine lines on my forehead and under my eyes have not reduced at all (but I don’t think anything can get rid of my undereye wrinkles). The discolouration that I have on my face has not faded whatsoever and my skin is still as oily as ever. My pores are less visible but then again there are days where I still wake up with pretty large pores. I suspect that the weather may have more to do with my pore size than this serum.

‘Go from a drab complexion to an absolutely luminous one, practically overnight!’

Ummmm – well yes my complexion is quite luminous now but I can assure you that the magic did not happen overnight.

Packaging: Good. This has the classic Drunk Elephant product packaging with a bright pink twist pump top. Also this bottle is light weight and is perfect for travel!

Price: High end. This retails at $132 AUD for 30mL so it’s not by any means cheap. However, since it’s formulated without all of those nasties ( Essential Oils, Drying Alcohols, Silicones, Chemical Screens, Fragrance/Dyes and SLS) it may be worth the price tag.

Repurchase? Potentially. My skin does look a lot smoother and brighter now, the size of my pore also appears to have reduce or at least they’re less visible. However, I’m not sure if it’s entirely because of this product or if its just my skincare routine working as a whole. I may lay off this product a while to see how my skin fare without it, but I do see myself repurchasing it.

Overall, my skin does look a lot better after starting this serum but it’s nothing drastic (which is not necessarily a bad thing). My skin is a lot softer and more luminous but as I’ve mentioned before – I’m not sure if I can give this serum all the credit since I’ve tried a few different things in my skincare routine since starting it. It is however a decent serum that is relatively moisturising and it does a good job of exfoliating my skin (no more dry skin patches!).

So that’s it my Wonderlandians! Until next time,

A Cheat Sheet for good skin this Christmas Season

l don’t know about you, but Christmas is a time where all of my diets (not that I’ve ever stick to many) gets throw out of the window and I’m feasting on all the Candy Canes and Popping Candy I can get my hands on. Occasionally, I might attend the office Christmas party or two and the Christmas lunches and dinners that quickly follows. So naturally my December is full of champagne, food, desserts, all nighters and laughter – and this wreaks havoc on my face (well, maybe not the last one)!

This little cheat sheet here is designed to hopefully help you get through the festive season without all the frustrations that too much indulgence can cause on your skin. 😉

So enjoy!

Ever woken up after a late night party and found your face all puffy looking like a  basketball? Well, you have your salty foods (possibly crisps), alcohol and lack of sleep to thank for that. The obvious solution is to avoid all of the above but c’mon it’s Christmas! My solution?

A simple and quick way to de-puff your face is to massage it gently in a upward motion, I usually do this when I’m applying my skincare products. This not only helps me wake up and depuffs but it also optimises the absorption of my skincare products.

2.Skipping your skincare routine

If you’ve returned from a late Christmas party and have work the next day then the last thing you’ll want to do is sit down and go through your billion-step skincare routine (well for me anyways). When I’m that tired and I need to crash ASAP I rely on two skincare products, one – a face mask and two- an overnight mask.

Innisfree's Aloe Vera is one of my favourites!

Sulwhasoo's Overnight Mask EX

I generally return from my party, take off my makeup and whip on a face mask (pick your favourite) then I attempt to brush my teeth whilst having the face mask on (hard but achievable – trust me). Finally,  slap on an overnight mask and crash. 😀

3. Acne

Proactiv's Repair Solutions or Acne

All that unhealthy eating and extended makeup use will inevitably lead to break outs. If I have minimal breakouts then I spot treat with my favourite Proactive Repair (an oldie but a goodie) and this usually looks after those pesky pimples quite well. If your acne is particularly worse during the festive season then be proactive and whip out those good old anti-acne cleansers or toners and prevent those break outs (becareful to make sure those cleansers and toners aren’t too stripping!).

4. Dry under-eyes

Belif's First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask

Staying up will do more damage to your under-eye area than make it dark and puffy. A dry under-eye area makes makeup application hell, goodbye flawless dewy skin and hello creasing under-eyes also dehydration increases the risk of under-eye wrinkles. Prevent this by slapping on an under-eye patch for some extra moisture or consider using an under-eye mask as well (personally I’ve not seen great results with these).

5. Dry skin (thank you Champagne)

Trilogy's Certified Organic Rosehip Oil

It’s most likely that our alcohol intake during December may be a tad higher than our usual. Alcohol being a diuretic (removes fluid from our body) can leave our skin looking dry and dehydrated (plus all of the mentioned above). If you don’t drink at all then you can skip this part  (but then again if you’re supplementing your water intake with soft drinks and juices then maybe keep reading). Now your skin is perfectly capable of looking after it’s own and will eventually bounce back but a little help won’t hurt. It’s a no brainer that getting your hydration levels back in tip top shape is important but also consider a hydration serum like Sulwhasoo’s First Care Activating Serum EX – this is literally like giving my skin a cup of water. Make sure to bring out your trusty facial oil out as well, this will give you an instant healthy glow!

I hope you’ve found some of these tips useful – enjoy the festive season, stay beautiful and stay safe!

Until next time,

Christmas Gift Ideas: Skincare Edition

You know what gets me into the Christmas vibe faster than a Michael Buble’s Christmas album? Well, Christmas shopping of course! In case you’ve somehow missed it, it’s now officially December, snow should be tumbling (if you’re lucky enough) or at lease houses or shopping malls should be beaming with Christmas decorations and you should be busy with some gift wrapping.

Christmas shopping is often a difficult job – as I’ve learn after numerous Secret Santa last minute dash. It’s actually very hard to find the perfect Christmas gift, this is especially true if you don’t know the person too well (especially the case for my Secret Santa/Kris Kringle). So, if you’re someone like me who traditionally needs some help with gift ideas then I might just have the blog for you. Unlike previous years, I actually got my Christmas gifts sorted out already… this year, I’m gifting the gift of year of gifting glowing, youth skin aka SKINCARE!

So let’s just jump into some gift ideas that I wouldn’t mind receiving myself 😉

Innisfree is a brand that I haven’t got much first hand experience with, mostly because it doesn’t sit too well with my oily-combo skin. However, my sister (with dry skin) loves Innisfree, in particular the Innisfree’s Green Tea Seed Serum. I’ve seen the serum help transform her dry flaky skin to a smooth and supple canvas within weeks! This Christmas set is definitely ideal for our dry skin pals. The packaging is dead gorgeous and the set gives them a ‘taste’ of everything. The set comes with the Innisfree’s Green Tea Cleansing Foam (30mL), Innisfree’s The Green tea Seed Serum (80mL) and Innisfree’s The Green Tea Seed Cream(20mL) – pretty much a full basic skincare routine.

I’m going to sound like a broken record, but here goes – Sulwhasoo is honestly my favourite Korean skincare brand (nothing new HAHA)! They are know for they ‘hanbang’ skincare products that are soothing and healing to the skin. This Christmas special gift set contains three of their popular facial masks – The Radiance Energy Mask (30mL) ,Overnight Vitalizing Mask (50ml) and Clarifying Mask (50mL). Sulwhasoo is a high-end Korean Skincare brand so expect some wallet-damage but trust me you’re paying for what you get! Probably a great gift for that someone who always goes above and beyond for you or ones who’ve shouted you too many coffees to count?

Kiehl’s was actually my first ever Skincare brand – the brand focuses of apothecary type products. In other words, their products are simple and effectively without all those unnecessary frills and added fragrances. I particularly enjoy their eye cream and Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, plus their Ultimate Strength Hand Salve isn’t too bad either. I found they this pretty cute ‘Disney x Kiehl’s Hydration Essentials’ set that they have in celebration of the coming Christmas season. The Kit includes the Ultimate Strength Hand Salve (30ml), Ultra Facial Cleanser (2.5oz), Ultra Facial Cream (7ml), Lip Balm #1 and the Crème de Corps (2.5oz) at an affordable A $36 price tag! This would be perfect for those new to skincare and just wanted to test out the products before having the full commitment of a full sized product.

Remember the time when all of Trilogy’s Rosehip Oil was flying off the shelves worldwide because The Duchess of Cambridge was said to love it during her pregnancy? Well if it’s good enough for Katherine it’s good enough for us! 😛 This Trilogy Rosehip Radiance Botanical Beauties set is honestly the full packaging! It comes with Trilogy’s Cream Cleanser (30mL), Rosehip Oil Antioxdiant+ (30mL) and Rosapene™ Radiance Serum(30mL). Why not gift the gift of glowing skin this Christmas

So there you have it, basically my Christmas shopping list in a blog! 😉

Enjoy your Christmas shopping my Wonderlandians!

Until next time,

Drunk Elephant's Shaba Complex Eye Serum Review

Review: Drunk Elephant’s Shaba Complex Eye Serum

Drunk Elephant's Shaba Complex Eye Serum Review

If eyes are the windows to the soul then your under-eye condition is the secret bearer of age! You’ve probably heard it all before, the first place to reveal your age is your under eyes. Your late night extravaganza, poor diet and hours staring at your electronic devices will one day, be bare to all on your face. So prevent, prevent, prevent! Obviously, diet and sun protection plays a big part in under-eye care, but today lets talk about the easier option – eye creams/serums.

I find that there’s a lot of misconception about eye creams/serums out there. When do you start eye cream? (the sooner the better I’d say). Do eye creams even work? (I sure hope so). What eye creams should we use (Ah, thats the fun my friends – the deep unknown!).

I’ve talked about my favourite eyes creams which I still stick by, but I’ve  ventured into some new space and wanted to try something a bit more affordable (although not all that much more). When it comes to eye creams, I need the real deal because wasted time is lost time! The wrinkle underneath your eyes once there will be there forever so be careful to prevent them in the first place. 😉

A brand that I’ve recently become obsessed with is Drunk Elephant, I’ve review their  C-Firma Day Serum and am still trailing their T.L.C Framboos out. Naturally, when I found that they had a eye cream too I had to test it out!

So lets dive in!

A silky eye serum formulated with a powerhouse of ingredients to tackle the major signs of aging under and around the eyes, such as the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, fatigue and dark circles, puffiness and age spots. The result is a more youthful, radiant appearance.

Shaba Complex™ Eye Serum contains potent doses of black tea ferment and copper peptides that work together to support a firmer looking appearance around the eyes, helping to slow down the signs aging before they appear. A unique combination of edelweiss stem cells and niacinamide helps diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and dark circles. The powerful antioxidants in Co-Q10 help diminish signs of premature aging from environmental aggressors, while also helping to fade the appearance of age spots. You won’t believe your eyes.

Drunk Elephant's Shaba Complex Eye Serum

Packaging: Great! I love skincare products that comes in pumps for two reasons. Firstly it keeps the product hygienic and secondly it keeps the product stable as you are not exposing the rest of the unused product to oxygen or bacteria in the air. If only all eye creams come in pump bottles … 😦

Price: Expensive. This 15ml pump bottle costs $88 AUD which comes to  $5.86 per 1mL, umm not cheap!

Texture: Watery. Some would argue that this eye serum is creamy … NOPE – no it is absolutely watery and a pain to work with! The product itself doesn’t absorb into the skin and I find myself there just rubbing in stubborn cream for what seems like zonker years.

Scent? Nothing. My friends don’t expect aroma therapy with this product, but I’m not complaining. There really isn’t any need for your eye cream to smell like a Bali spa retreat.

Convenience: Great. The fact that it comes in a pump bottle makes it so easy to use, no fiddling with spatulas or lids.

Repurchase? Nope. I’ve not noticed anything with this eye serum. Unlike with the SK-II and SU:M 37 eye creams, this one did not leave my undereye area feeling mositurised or plumped at all!

Overall, I can’t wait until I finish off this eye cream. Another disappointing product for me and I certainly won’t recommend it unless you’ve got a plenty of money to spare. The eye cream itself is nothing to rave about and I feel like other eye creams, especially Kiehl’s Avacado Eye Treatment is superior in efficacy and price!

I hope you enjoyed the post!

Until next time,

Laneige's Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask Review - The Rainy Wonderland

Laneige’s Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask

Laneige's Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask Review - The Rainy Wonderland

Always the one to be late on new trends and hypes, I’ve finally whipped out my Laneige’s Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask to see for myself what the fuss was about. The  Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask was something that sent the internet into a bit of a buzz late last year (or earlier this year? ), reviews and youtube videos alike were raving  about it’s potential to transform dry peeling lips into a smooth luscious pout!  A luscious pout sounds nice for Christmas don’t you think?

(BTW: I didn’t actually buy mine, no, I stole it from my younger sister – who in the heat of the moment bought a value pack if 4 at Singapore’s Changi Airport – I’m sure she doesn’t mind! 😉 )

Laneige's Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask Review - Packaging an

If you’re interested to know the state of my lips then continue on, but if you’ll much prefer to skip to the product review then I suggest you skip this paragraph :). So, lips … well mine are dry not very dry per se but not exactly a nice canvas for liquid lip sticks. My sister’s pout? Well, a lot drier with lots of peeling and cracks (you’ll see the importance of this information later).

*Image from Laniege SG’s Website

The New Lip Sleeping Mask gently melts dead skin cells making lips feel smooth and elastic the next morning.
Experience smooth firming lip night care with the new lip sleeping pack, available in berry, grapefruit, apple lime, and vanilla scents.

Laneige has recently released three additional scents to the original berry flavour, which is the one that I’ve got.

So lets get into this review and see what it does for my dehydrated pout!

Laneige's Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask Review - The Rainywonderland

Packaging: Cute! The lip mask comes in a nice and sturdy 20g jar with a pink spatula. The jar itself does not fell cheap or flimsy but is light weight and sturdy enough. Perfect for traveling.

Price. High. For 20g of product you’re looking at ~ $37-$40 AUD. Although to be fair, one jar will last you a pretty long time!

Scent? Sweet Strawberries. There is a nice fresh and sweet strawberry scent but nothing too over powering and it fades away quickly. If you’re someone who hates scents in your products then rest assure that this won’t bother you all night. If on the contrary you LOVE scented products then you might need to sniff the jar for a while longer!

Convenience: Good. The spatula is nice and flexible allow application of the product onto your lips to be a breeze ~

Texture. Buttery. The best way to explain the texture of this product would be that it’s very butter-like. Solid to the touch yet melts easily when you run your finger or spatula along it.

Repurchase? No way in a million years! This product was simply a waste of time and money for me. Despite it working great for other reviewers , it did absolutely nothing for my lips. In fact, it appears to have dried it out further. 😞 The mask itself was super oily and can smudge (since I toss and turn when I sleep) to the outer perimeter of my lips causing white heads and break out around the area. For my sister’s lips, well it does absolutely nothing at all. As a matter of fact, she couldn’t even finish her sample size and is dying to get rid of her stash.

Claims: Exaggerated. I can’t see how this slippery lubricating lip-gloss type thing can melt off anything. My lips certainly do not feel smooth or elastic in the mornings.

Overall, I was left bitterly disappointed. I very desperately wanted a Laneige product to work on me (.. lips and skin like Song Eye Kyo? Yes please!) but nope, again Laneige has let me down.  I’m rather surprised that others have liked the products so much. I’m trying to use up my 20g jar not but that will be difficult, wish me luck!

Until next time,

Belif's First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask Review

Belif’s First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask

Belif's First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask Review

If you ever talk to me about skincare, you’ll find out that I’m an eye cream fanatic, in fact borderline crazy about it! The skin around your eyes are the most delicate and is the first to show signs of ageing. Whilst most people recommend the use of eye creams later on in life, I’m a firm believer in starting eye creams early!

I’ve mentioned some of my favourite eye creams before in my post but lets talk about something else a little different to an eye cream! How about Belif’s First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask? I’m always up for giving my eyes a little more TLC and when I saw this Eye Care Mask I knew I had to give it a go!

Belif is a Korean skincare brand, I’ll say its the asian version of Khiehls – in that they focus on using natural herbal ingredients in their products. One of Belif’s most poplar product would be The True Cream Moisturising Bomb (which I’m sure you would have heard about).

Now that I’ve got the intro out of the way, lets dive into the review!

Belif's First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask Packaging

So, the claims:

This unique, hydrating pudding-like eye care mask releases stress around the eyes and replenishes moisture levels to dry eye rims with the help of a 360-degree massage on six acupressure points around the eyes. The leave-on, cooling and hydrating formula—infused with mimosa herb extract—instantly cools, relieves puffy and fatigued eyes, and prevents visible wrinkles by improving the resilience of the skin around the eye. Further enhanced with three belif napiers formulas (original, detox, and dark circle formulas), this eye care mask fights all signs of fatigue and diminishes the appearance of dark circles and puffiness around the delicate and sensitive eye areas.

Packaging: Nice. The eye cream comes in the Belif’s signature black lid and white jar packaging. Simple, clean and sophisticated. I would honestly have liked it better if this eye mask come in a pump bottle (just to make it more hygienic) but most eye creams come in jars anyways so…

Effect: Don’t overuse it.  In all honestly I do not see any visible improvement in my eyes when using this mask. However I do find that if I use it for more than once a week I may develop small acne like pimples near my eyes and that is not fun!

Scent: Heavenly. The scent is amazing! I love that it smells like walking in a botanical garden during an early winter morning. So refreshing and calming!

Belif's First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask Formula

Formula: Fun. The formula of the mask is probably what some companies refer to as 3D creams or something. Basically the cream retains it’s shape even after you’ve dipped your finger or spatula in to take out some products. This ultimately leaves it looking brand new all the time!

Reduces the appearance of dark circles? Nope.

Reduces Puffiness? Nope.

For sensitive eyes? Maybe. The scent may be irritating for some very sensitives eye, however I have’t really had any problems with their mask in terms of eyes sensitivity.

Price: Expensive. Whilst the eye mask is not as expensive as eye creams from other high end Korean companies like Sulwhasoo or The House of Whoo, however it’s not exactly cheap. From memory it was about $40 SGD.

Repurchase? No. This eye mask did not have any additive effect to my eye creams and is not a vital part of my skincare routine.

Overall, I was rather let down by it’s overall performance actually. I was excited by this eye mask because it was something that I’d never come across before and claims to do some so good things to my eyes that I couldn’t pass! But over a year of use and I can honestly tell you that it hasn’t done a thing for my eyes. 😦

Thank you for visiting this little Rainy Wonderland and until next time,

Exciting Announcement: The Rainy Wonderland has a sister!

Meet Lazy Brown Eyes, a sister blog to The Rainy Wonderland!

Firstly, thank you for all the support that you have shown to The Rainy Wonderland blog in the last few months it has truly been such an amazing experience! The Rainy Wonderland blog remains and will always be my little abode in this blogging community.

Posts on the Rainy Wonderland are written in a personalised and conversation manner, intentionally paying little if any attention to grammar! HAHA. However, in order to satisfy my more journalistic side I decided to create another blog that focuses on discussing and talking about beauty. Below is a a post from the sister blog on why I decided to create the Lazy Brown Eyes.

Tinnie is a 24 year old Australian-Vietnamese blogger who happens to be the elf working behind the The Rainy Wonderland and the Lazy Brown Eyes blogs. Her profession? Well, part-time hard working elf and full time craze-stricken minion of course.

Her interest lies primarily in beauty and especially asian beauty (insert Kpop jam). Another interest is sarcastic and creative writing (often the lines do blur a bit between the two).

Her passion in trialling and reviewing new makeup and skincare products lead to the creation of The Rainy Wonderland blog in May of 2017, a personal and honest site about her thoughts on beauty products (with little, if any attention to grammar). The elf enjoyed being a ‘blogger’ so much that she decided to create another site. This time with more wackiness and grammatically correct sentences about beauty and makeup trends than her comfortable little abode of The Rainy Wonderland.

Lazy Brown Eyes serves to entertain fellow home bodies and self-lovin, self-professing couch potatoes out there! Join Tinnie, the occasional hard working elf and full time crazed stricken minion as she manoeuvres her way through the beauty world and watch her (failed) attempt at leaving a mark in this big-but-not-really world.

Signing off with a …

HeHe, enjoy!

The Rainy Wonderland will continue to have regular weekly posts (2-3 per week) whilst the Lazy Brown Eyes will have at least one new post a week!

I look forward to sharing my journey with you all, and don’t forget to subscribe to the Lazy Brown Eyes to see what it’s all about!

A gigantic THANK YOU!

Skincare for a Starry* Winter Night!

Galaxy Image from Pexel
*Image from Pexel

*By Starry I literally mean a night sky filled with stars, like in the sky not stars on the red carpet. 😉

I’m usually someone who perches in front of their mobile phone, television or laptop and sits hours on end watching a drama or surfing the web. I was pretty satisfied with this lifestyle until I turned twenty-three and realised how unsatisfied I really was. I realised that my technology filed life meant that I was living my life through other people’s lens and seeing the world through their perceptions. This revelation upsetted me and I was only by  accident that I actually looked up one starry night and was gob-smacked by how amazing the galaxy was.

And so, I have now made it a habit of mine to star gaze on bright starry nights as a way to help me keep in touch with nature! Unfortunately in Oz, the best nights for star gazing are winter nights and besides the obvious concerns that comes with sitting out in the cold, your skin will also suffer.

Here are some of what I do to  help me keep my skin moisturised and healthy for a winter night outdoors!

Layer skincare

Sum 37 essence

Avoid using just a thick moisturiser or cream but focus on layering hydrating skincare to build a solid layer of hydration protection.  Layering your products will help you moisturise more deeply into the skin and as a result the moisturise will unlikely be dried off your face. Essences like the Sum 37’s essence is perfect for a deep hydration! 🙂

Drunk Elephant's C-Firma Serum

The Drunk Elephant’s  C-Firma Day Serum and the SK-II’s RNA power essence are my favorite moisturising serums for this step. They both hydrate deeply into the skin leaving it hydrated and soft. I usually use the C-Firma Day serum in the mornings (obviously) but on this special nights I like to load on the hydration with this super monitoring serum too! 😉

Overnight mask

Sulwhasoo's Overnight Vitalising MaskNow to lock in all that skincare we need something like an overnight mask! Products like Laniege’s Sleeping Mask or Sulwhasoo’s Overnight vitalising mask are my go-to for this step. The overnight mask seals in my skincare as well as helps protect my facial moisturiser! A needed item to protect your face agains the dry winter wind!
