Too Faced Born This Way

Review: Too Faced’s Born This Way Foundation

I’m not usually  one to sport the statement eye makeup or bold bleeding lips, generally my statement makeup focus was always on the skin. This may seem bland and boring but honestly it’s super difficult to do! I’ve always desired to have that perfect makeup canvas, skin that’s firm, bouncy,  dewy and importantly  natural non I-have- loads-of-pore-clogging-foundation on type look. However, I’ve very rarely been able to sport the look described above. Instead, I’ve sported every thing else ranging from cakey/streaky face to mismatch foundation (especially looking a tad too orange or pale for my skin tone).

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation Review Ivory

It’s no secret that skincare plays a massive part in good skin, however selecting the right foundation can be just as pivotal (and possibly easier).  So that leads to this rather popular/ Instagram worthy foundation, Too Faced’s Born This Way Foundation. This foundation was highly raved about by one of my favourite youtuber, you may know her .. Liah Yoo. She loved this foundation so much she made a separate youtube video about it just to rave about it.  So I thought, ‘what the heck’ lets try this baby out!

Let the review begin !

Tinnie’s Verdict:

Too Faced Born This Way Review

Coverage: Medium- Full. Depending on how much product you use and whether or not you build it up, you can get a medium to full coverage with this foundation. I don’t like building it up too much however, because it makes me look more cakey and I want to look like I was born this way.

Texture: Creamy. The texture of this foundation is very different to what I’m used to. It’s  a lot thicker in consistency and is more cream like than any other foundation I’ve used before. It’s thicker consistency almost means that it doesn’t look as natural as my other watery foundations.

Born this way shade Ivory

Finish: Dewy but… The finish of the foundation is nice and dewy, a gentle pat of powder is probably all you’ll need if the finish is a tad too much for you. The finish is also very natural (if you don’t use too much product) and the formula is bendable (especially with a beauty blender damp or wet). However, as you can see, if you have a lot of fine lines and/or dry skin then this foundation will definitely accentuate it and make it a lot worse.

Longevity: 4-6 hours. This foundation looks great on my skin until the 4 hour mark, after that the sebum on my skin (even if I pat it down with powder) starts to separate the foundation making me look like a oily mess.

Shades: ~24 shades. I actually counted the amount of shades they had on the Sephora website and it looks like there’s about 24 shades! There’s bound to be a shade for anyone who’s interested! 🙂 I got mine in the shade ‘Ivory’ – a very yellow toned shade which looks a tad too warm on my arm but it covers my redness really well on my face! 😉

Price: Medium-High. At $57 AUD, it’s not too expensive but nor is it exactly cheap. However, paying this amount for a product from brands like Too Faced isn’t too bad at all.

Packaging: Good. The bottle is frosted and made of glass, its a tad heavy and may not be as travel friendly as we’ll like. However it does make a nice addition to the vanity table!

Repurchase? Probably not. I like this foundation enough to use it on most days of the week, however I’m still on the hunt for ‘the one’. Until then, I avoid repurchasing the same foundations if possible (just to save myself time and money).

Overall, if you’re after a foundation that will even out your skin tone and boost your complexion then this is the one. However, if you have dry skin  (or dry patches) then best to avoid this foundation as it may not do you any favours 😦 . For my fellow oily skin brothers and sisters out there, beware that the sebum can actually separate the foundation so look out after the 4 hour mark. Otherwise, if you’re just needing something for a nice little evening or event then look no further!

I hope you enjoyed the review and until next time,

Stay curious!
